Do you have a nickname?
- There was a girl in my kindergarten class whose name was pronounced Nah-ami, so we were called Nay-omi-Baloney, Nah-ami Salami!
- Nome, Nay
- My best friend calls me Nay (like the
sound a horse would make).
- My nickname is "Nay" (long a) or "Na Na"--it started in kindergarten and
has followed me everywhere.
- I used to be Omi. I've heard even _the_ Naomi goes by that-It took me 7 years to wean my family off that one, aunts and uncles too!)
- My friends each have different variaions of my name that they use. I get
Niah, Mimi and Naynay a lot. The last one I don't particularly like.
- I've been called Nay, NayNay and Noom.
- I had a series of family nicknames that came out of "Nokomis" (as in
Longfellow's "Hiawatha," which my father used to recite to me: "By the
shores of Gitchee Goomee, by the shining Big Sea Water, Stood the
wigwam of Nokomis, Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis . . . "). From
Nokomis, to Omus, to Omee. Also Nomus, Nome, Naome, Nao, and Nomes.
- I guess I have one of the nicest nicknames...Since Mona and Naomi end
and start with the same letters they can be put together as Monaomi.
And Monaomi is very simular to the french "mon ami"-my friend, which
some of my friends call me. Not bad, is it?
- I was Neigh for a while and Nao for a couple of years in college, but I
haven't had any nicknames for many years.
- Other nicknames: Nomi, Nome, Nomes, and Nanaimo, but my friends affectionately call me Noma or Norm..
- Mischka (means "teddy bear" in Russian)
- I am called 'Nao-chan:'
'Nao' comes from 'Naomi', and 'chan' is the way to call a person in Japanese
as well as '-kun' and '-san'.

What is the worst wrong name someone has called you?
- Mine is "wyoming!"
- Well, I guess there are a lot of Naomis out there being called Wyoming. The
funniest story I heard about that was a woman overheard to say "why do you call her 'Wyoming' when you know her name is 'Miami'?"
- I was called "pneumonia" once!
- Nanaimo
- Worst response after an introduction: Nailme? I'll nail ya.
- Wyoming, Nairobi, Nomesters, Nomer(s) and NUPTIALS! (you tell me!).
- I have had many a doozie....Nairobi, Obe Wan Knobee...you know
the deal.
- My
career counselor at school use to call me Noami ("no-amy"). My aunt use
to call me Wyoming (like the state in the US). I'd have to say Wyoming from my aunt is the worst butchering of my first
name I've ever recieved. But with a last name like Fiordimondo, my first
name is easy by comparison.
- Mine is Notmi.
- In Dutch people think my name is "Leonie". This is because I try to get them to pronounce my name the English way because it sounds awful in Dutch. However saying it in English sounds like Leonie to the Dutch.
- The most common and annoying screw up of my name is "Niomi". So
many people call me this!! Even my friends sometimes! I hate it!!
- I never heard the dreaded "Niomi" until moving to the
East Coast, where it's been a constant battle to keep the pronunciation
from creeping back into that version.
- People still can't pronounce our name or spell
it, including (neomia!!!) and my last name (pate) so both of my names
get a good grilling.
